Characteristics and Functions of Primary Efficiency Filters
The core characteristics of primary efficiency filters are low resistance, large dust holding capacity and low cost. Their core function is to serve as the "first line of defense" in air filtration systems, protecting subsequent equipment and extending the overall system life.
I.Core Characteristics
Moderate filtration efficiency, mainly targeting large-particle dust, hair, fibers and other impurities with particle size ≥5μm, complying with EN779 standard G1-G4 classes.
Low initial resistance (usually 30-80Pa), which does not affect the air volume of the ventilation system and results in low energy consumption loss.
Large dust holding capacity, capable of accommodating a certain amount of impurities before replacement, with a relatively reasonable service cycle.
Low material cost, mostly adopting economical and durable filter media such as polyester fiber, non-woven fabric and metal mesh.
Some types (such as metal mesh materials) are reusable and washable, further reducing operating costs.
Simple structure and light weight, enabling convenient installation and replacement without complex tools.
II.Main Functions
Pre-filtration protection: Intercept large-particle impurities in the air to prevent them from entering medium-efficiency, high-efficiency filters or equipment such as air handling units and fans.
Extend the service life of subsequent filters: Avoid rapid clogging of high-precision filtration components, prolong the replacement cycle of medium-efficiency and high-efficiency filters, and reduce the maintenance cost of the overall filtration system.
Protect ventilation system equipment: Reduce wear and fouling of fans, heat exchangers and other equipment caused by impurities, ensure stable operation of the ventilation system, and lower the risk of equipment failure.
Preliminary air purification: Reduce the impact of large-particle dust on the indoor environment and lay a foundation for subsequent filtration links.
Adapt to various ventilation scenarios: Act as a pre-treatment link to improve the operating efficiency of the entire filtration system.
